Facts:
1. It took Swift more than four years to write Gulliver's Travels.

Swift even more bitter toward politics and politicians.
3. The novel was never intended for children, but rather a very serious satire.
4. Swift hated tyranny and oppression, pretentiousness, cruelty, dishonesty, and hypocrisy, so
throughout the novel, he laughs at and ridicules man's ridiculouness in hopes that the
satire will be self-educating - that man will right his own wrongs.
