Feature Story Vocabulary:  Need to Know


1.   Sequence of Information:  how information is organized (paragraphs, mumerically, etc.)

2.  Expert Authority:  one's knowledge about a particular subject

3.   Anecdote:  short, entertaining account of something happening

4.   Vignette:  a short, delicate literary sketch

5.   Quote:  Exact words spoken by someone (put in quotation marks)

6.   Flashback:  recalling something that happened in the past

7.   Tables:  an arrangement of related facts, figures, values, etc. (usually in rows or columns)

8.   Charts:  a group of facts about something set up in the form of a diagram

9.   Snapshots:  written description of how something looks

10.  Sketches:  drawings

11.   Foreshadowing:  hints about what will happen in the future
